چکیده
Aim Recent studies in southern Africa identified past biome stability as an important predictor of biodiversity. We aimed to assess the extent which predicts present global biodiversity patterns, and projected climatic changes may lead eventual areas with constant biome. Location Global. Taxon Spermatophyta; terrestrial vertebrates. Methods Biome constancy was assessed mapped using results from 89 dynamic vegetation model simulations, driven by outputs palaeoclimate experiments spanning 140 ka. tested hypothesis that vertebrate diversity is predicted constancy. also simulated potential future vegetation, hence quantified change Results Approximately 11% ice-free land had a since Apart Desert, many support high species diversity. All groups show strong positive relationship between greater diversity, but no less diverse areas. Climatic 2100 commits 46%–66% land, 34%–52% (excluding Desert) change. Main conclusions Past strongly higher Future will biome, profound implications for conservation. Some result substantial reductions biospheric carbon sequestration other ecosystem services.

Changes in forest productivity across Alaska consistent with biome shift.
Global vegetation models predict that boreal forests are particularly sensitive to a biome shift during the 21st century. This shift would manifest itself first at the biome's margins, with evergreen forest expanding into current tundra while being replaced by grasslands or temperate forest at the biome's southern edge. We evaluated changes in forest productivity since 1982 across boreal Alaska...

This paper investigated the response of major food crop yields namely beans, cassava, Irish potatoes, maize and sweet potatoes to ongoing changes in climate inRwanda. The projected daily precipitation and temperature data for the period2000-2050 used in this study were generated by stochastic weather generator(LARS-WG) from daily raw data for the period 1961 -2000. These data werecollected from ...
متن کاملThe role of plant functional trade-offs for biodiversity changes and biome shifts under scenarios of global climatic change
The global geographic distribution of biodiversity and biomes is determined by species-specific physiological tolerances to climatic constraints. Current vegetation models employ empirical bioclimatic relationships to predict present-day vegetation patterns and to forecast biodiversity changes and biome shifts under climatic change. In this paper, we consider trade-offs in plant functioning and...
متن کاملSpatial and Temporal Changes of Sage Grouse Habitat in the Sagebrush Biome
Sage grouse (Centrocercus urophasiamus) occur in regions that are spatially diverse and temporally dynamic in western North America. During the past 130 years, significant changes in disturbance regimes have affected their habitat. Plant communities in existence today are unique from any other time period because of altered disturbance regimes, confounded by a continual change in climate. In so...
متن کاملBioMe: biologically relevant metals
In this article, we introduce BioMe (biologically relevant metals), a web-based platform for calculation of various statistical properties of metal-binding sites. Users can obtain the following statistical properties: presence of selected ligands in metal coordination sphere, distribution of coordination numbers, percentage of metal ions coordinated by the combination of selected ligands, distr...
